Andrea and I would often run into Jill and Tim at music shows, usually as everyone was lining up to get in. Our conversations were short but memorable, especially in winter when that cold wind was blowing across the Palace Theatre entrance. The last time I saw Tim was at the Wedding Present show at the Turf Club in May. We were both passionately flummoxed as to why everyone didn’t love them, just as front man, David Gedge was taking a pre-show stroll through the crowd. I don’t think he heard us but it was a funny moment and an amazing concert. Will think of Tim when I listen to Bizarro and missing seeing his friendly face in the crowd.
Tim and Jill would come to my art shows, and Tim would always have ideas about what photo books he felt I would be inspired by. Several times he loaned me small piles of books, one of which was Juke Joint by Birney Imes, and yes, I was absolutely inspired and immediately bought a copy of my own which is now open on my studio table. Tim had a way of honing in on the essence, and no fear of expressing his opinions. I will really miss him. So much love and sympathy to you Jill, and also to his large community of friends.
